İpek Baycan Magriso

Graduated from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture she has started her Master of Architecture degree from I.T.U. Architectural Design Program where she wrote her thesis. In this thesis she derived the sociological notion of “Buffer Mechanism” into “Buffer Place” documenting various spontaneous architectural spaces in the Istanbul.

After her graduation, she was involved in projects concerning different scales and typologies of architecture. She worked in collaboration as a freelance architect with different architectural offices. During this time, she participated a lot of competitions and she won special mention awards in both Politecnico di Milano Compasso Volante International Competition (2010) and Kızılay Square Urban Design National Idea Competition (2011). With one of the pavilions she has designed in a National Park, she was nominated for special prize in Turgut Cansever National Architectural Competition.

Throughout her career she worked as a part-time lecturer in Gebze Technical University and Yıldız Technical University. At the moment she is giving a lecture on “Professional Life After Graduation” in Bahçeşehir University.

Since the year of 2013, she has participated in various national and international competitions with slasharchitects as a founder. slasharchitects have won their first prize in the TAK – Urban Interventions Competition in 2014. Following that they won second mention in Çanakkale War Research Centre National Architecture Project Competition and in 2017 The Farm of 38 30 Cheese Factory has been nominated for Cityscape Awards. Following that in 2017, slasharchitects have won IF Design Award, Architizer A + Award and most importantly WAF (World Architectural Festival) with The Farm of 38 30 Cheese Factory Building. In the same year, she has received the Arkitera Young Architect Award.
